BROKEN GLASS


The Broken glass series is focused on events that awaken in me a sense of attraction, secrecy and enigma.

Broken glass is a forbidden fruit, I am tempted to touch it even though I know it could be dangerous, I stare at it because it’s fascinating, but its camouflaged appearance is misleading and deceptive.

Glass is the mind itself, with its power of defining and confining what is around. Through the mind reality becomes distorted, interpretable, sometimes dangerous, sometimes mysterious as well as intuitive.

Glass is memories of our past, it is thoughts, it is secrets.

Pieces of glass placed next to an old photo let us wonder about what happened.

Spiky glass laid secretly underneath fallen leaves shows its essence, while an ancestral premonition warns me:
You will end up hurting yourself if you don’t pay attention, but if you do, it gives you a reason, a meaning crawls back to you.

This series of paintings is made on wooden board: a solid, confident surface where the background expands itself and relegates a thought on a side.
